Can you help host some of our Ettlingen friends in May?

This year Clevedon Twinning Association are celebrating 40 years of twinning friendship with Ettlingen in Germany.   Ettlingen is sending a group of ‘runners’ to Clevedon on 26th May 2020, to deliver an ‘invitation’ for Clevedon town to visit Ettlingen, who are organising the 40 year celebrations in October 2020.

We are looking for local people to get involved with the visit, by welcoming the Ettlingen ‘runners’ when they arrive in May, along with our association, and we need to host ‘runners’ during their visit.

If you have a spare bedroom and would be willing to host some of our Ettlingen friends for a few nights in May, or you want to know more about the plans for the anniversary celebrations, please get in touch with Emma at Clevedon Twinning Association on 01275 343918, visit our Facebook page, or website, or come along to our next coffee morning at The Limehouse on Hill Road, on the first Saturday of the month to find out more and meet with members.

Hosting is a great opportunity to make friends and have fun with our twinning towns.  We hope more people of Clevedon will want to get involved, especially during this anniversary year.  Please get in touch if you are interested.

Announcement of newly appointed President

After the recent demise of Joy Wilyman, Clevedon Twinning Association has appointed Brian Chislett as its new President.
As a founder member of Clevedon Twinning Association, Brian has much knowledge of our town’s twinning history and has forged many friendships with our twinned towns of Ettlingen in Germany, Middlekerke in Belgium and Epernay in France.  More recently Brian has been standing as Chairman of Clevedon Twinning Association, but recently handed the Chairman’s role to David Rowland.  The Clevedon Twinning Association is active in the local community and recently helped Clevedon School obtain funding for the Erasmus+ Project which has three of our twinned towns working together on a school project (www.twinfoplus.org). With an active social calendar and regular coffee mornings, the Clevedon Twinning Association is looking forward to imminently celebrating anniversaries of twinning with Ettlingen 40 years (Oct 1980), Middlekerke 30 years (Sept 1991) and Epernay 30 years (April 1990).  If you are interested in forging friendships with our twinned towns in Germany, Belgium, and France, pop along on the first Saturday of the month to the informal coffee morning held at Limehouse on Hill Road from 10am-12pm. Alternatively, for more information about our events calendar and forthcoming trips, you can get in touch with us via our Facebook group.

Joy Wilyman and Alexander Dainty

To all Members,

As, no doubt, most of you are aware we have recently lost two Members who have, during many years contributed a great deal to the Clevedon Twinning Association. Alexander (Dainty) also served for many years as a member of the committee and during that time acted as both Minute Secretary and Assistant Secretary. Both were well known to our Friends in Epernay, Middelkerke and Ettlingen having made numerous visits over the years and we have received condolences from Epernay and Middelkerke.

For those who wish to attend, funeral arrangements are as follows:-

Joy. Tuesday, 26th February at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Castle Road, Walton St. Mary
